[Case Study] Utilizing Drones for Risk Reduction in Equipment Inspections and Maintaining Safety

It is possible to optimize the prioritization of detailed inspections and repairs within a limited construction period!

In order to ensure the reliability of equipment and the safety of workers while reducing the risk of construction delays, a new consideration for pre-cleaning inspections of piping interiors using drones has begun. By conducting pre-cleaning inspections, we can confirm in advance the condition of the internal coating of seawater buried pipes, the state of corrosion protection plates, and the presence of any other abnormalities. This allows for the optimization of detailed inspections and prioritization of repairs within a limited construction period, leading to a reduction in the aforementioned risks. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Inspection case of plant equipment | Transferring acquired data to maintenance services

Flying inside the equipment! We use it to take photos of defective areas and keep them as a record! 【Yamato Transport Co., Ltd.】

Sankyu, a major plant maintenance company engaged in engineering, logistics, and operation support. In plant engineering, we provide a variety of services from design to construction for the construction and modification of new plants, tailored to the needs of our users. Additionally, in operation support, we handle logistics within factories that manufacture material products such as steel and petrochemicals, as well as operational support, plant equipment construction, and maintenance. As one of these services, the company has introduced 'IBIS' for visual inspections to check for defective parts in equipment. 【Implementation Effects】 ■ The day after equipment failure, we were able to consider repair methods through IBIS inspections. ■ We received new maintenance and construction orders from inspections conducted with IBIS. ■ We utilize the data obtained from IBIS for maintenance services. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Facility inspection using drones for factory and building exterior walls.

No need for scaffolding or high-altitude work. Safe aerial overview photography from above and shooting from outside the explosion-proof area.

We will introduce the facility inspection utilizing drones for factory and building exterior walls. By changing the mounted equipment, such as optical zoom cameras and infrared cameras, we can accommodate various inspections. It is also suitable for capturing an overview from above. Additionally, by using scan data from LiDAR and software to create 3D models, we can check the condition of the exterior walls from angles that are impossible to assess from the ground. 【Features】 ■ Clear images can be obtained even when flying from a distance using optical zoom. ■ There are many applications for modeling creation and more. ■ Photography with infrared cameras can be utilized to detect anomalies. ■ It is possible to capture images from outside a hazardous area into the hazardous area using an optical 30x zoom camera. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improving Efficiency and Advancement of Operations through Drone Inspections

Stable flight even in special environments such as non-GPS areas, dark places, and confined spaces!

Kyushu Electric Power has been utilizing "ELIOS" since 2019 for boiler inspections at thermal power plants, internal chimney inspections, bridge inspections, and other tasks to improve operational efficiency within the company. Furthermore, for external customers, in addition to chimney and bridge inspections, "ELIOS" is being used for various infrastructure inspections, including duct interiors and waterways, achieving many successful results. "ELIOS," which can fly stably in special environments such as non-GPS areas, dark places, and narrow spaces, has a high operational rate among the many aircraft owned by Kyushu Electric Power and is an indispensable asset. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Case study of using drones for inspecting old seismic-resistant buildings | Areas that cannot be accessed even with aerial work platforms.

Expanding the range of inspection solutions! Widely utilizing "IBIS" for waste treatment facilities, earthquake-damaged buildings, and more [Tokyo Soil Research Co., Ltd.].

Tokyo Soil Research, established in 1966, primarily focuses on ground surveys. The Structural Survey and Design Division started in 1976 with the investigation, diagnosis, and reinforcement design of old earthquake-resistant buildings. In response to customer requests, it has expanded its scope of work to include various structural surveys, diagnoses, and new structural designs. The division handles a wide range of projects, from RC (reinforced concrete) residential buildings to mid- and high-rise buildings, factories, and halls. In this context, they have introduced Liberaware's small drone 'IBIS' and have begun various initiatives. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: Inspection points that cannot be reached with scaffolding or high-altitude work vehicles ■ Key factor for introduction: High return rate that does not easily fall ■ Implementation effects: - Expanded the range of inspection solutions - Widely utilized IBIS for waste treatment facilities and earthquake-damaged buildings *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Examples of drone utilization in the energy sector

Explanation of power spot checks and restoration work during power outages!

The biggest advantage of using drones for inspecting electrical equipment is the significant reduction in work time and the ability to cut labor costs. Additionally, based on aerial images, it is possible to measure the overall safety of operations and quickly identify problems. In particular, the use of drones is suitable for inspecting hazardous equipment such as transmission towers and substations. By using drones in areas where workers cannot approach, it is possible to quickly access the towers, collect real-time images, and make diagnoses that would normally take several hours within just a few minutes. *For more detailed information, you can view the related links. A sewer pipe inspection using the inspection drone "IBIS2" was conducted in Kobe City.

The "drone survey" conducted by flying "IBIS2" in places that are difficult for people to access!

Liberaware Inc. successfully conducted an investigation using "IBIS2" over approximately 600 meters of public sewer pipes in Kobe City. This case will be one of the sewer pipe investigation examples following the investigation in Kitakyushu City using "IBIS2" on May 30, 2025 (Friday). In Kobe City, sewer pipe investigations had previously been conducted using visual inspections and television cameras (self-propelled and floating types), but there were pipes that were difficult to investigate using conventional methods due to high water levels, sediment accumulation, and the presence of toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide. Therefore, we decided to conduct the investigation using our aerial drones. *For more details on the news, please refer to the related link.
